The Devil’s Apprentice: The Great Devil War I by Kenneth B. Andersen

Philip is an exceptionally good boy who is mistakenly sent to Hell to become the successor to the kingdom. The Devil is not best pleased that there’s been a mix up but because of his ill health, the Devil has no option but to take on Philip as his apprentice. There the Devil and his companions put Philip on a programme to bring out his inner evil.

There are plenty of fiendish characters in Hell that Philip meets and the setting is everything you’d imagine Hell to be. The references to those people who are condemned to live out eternity in Hell reminded me of Dante’s Inferno. There are even Biblical references weaved within the story.

This novel is for all. It’s fun, exciting and with a smidgen of mystery makes it an enjoyable read. I wonder what’s in store next?
