The chase by Ava Glass

The Chase by Ava Glass is the authors debut novel staring female spy Emma Makepeace. I have to say I actually read The Traitor, the second novel staring Emma Makepeace first as part of a blog tour a few months back. As I really enjoyed The Traitor, I knew I had to check out The Chase, just to see the origins of our lead female spy.

Emma Makepeace has been assigned to track down a man wanted by the Russians. Emma needs to keep him safe and get him to MI5 before they reach him. His life is in danger, and they will stop at nothing to get to him and kill.

But the Russians have eyes everywhere, they even have access to the camera’s operating in and around the city of London. Her allies have abandoned her. Why? There’s something else going on in her department. Emma needs to think fast and stay dark.

As Emma races through London, weaving through the back streets she uncovers much more to the story than she’s led to believe.

The story is faced paced, we are led from moment to moment smoothly. I enjoyed running through London with Emma, seeing all the back streets before reaching her final destination. The writing is on point for the genre, and you can see that Ava knows her subject. The world our spy Emma inhabits is conceivable and is one I’d like to see more of.

Ava Glass is a new author I’ve discovered that I’m now a fan of, and if she continues to write strong female lead characters that predominantly reside in a very male saturated world then I shall be poised for further novels.
