Venators: Promises Forged by Devri Walls

This is my stop on the blog tour for Venators: promises forged by Devri Walls, the second book in the Venators series.

The novel picks up nicely from where we left off and we continue with the adventures of Rune and Grey, two humans who were pulled into the world of Eon to help The Council with their ‘problems’.

The Council is made up of a high society of vampires, werewolves, fae and other demons. In the first book Rune and Grey try to navigate the world and culture they find themselves in and end up disobeying The Council. While this is happening, we discover that Rune’s twin brother, Ryker has been captured by goblins and brought to Eon and is a prisoner of Zio. Her intentions are unclear, but The Council don’t like her.

As this second novel begins, we learn that Rune is desperate to find and rescue her brother. Grey struggles with his personal moral compass and ends up being captured by the faery Queen Feena, who despises The Council. While Grey struggles to free himself, Rune must convince The Council to rescue Grey. While there are allegiances forged with Rune, some members of The Council are still unconvinced by her abilities as a Venator and wonder if it is worth risking Rune to rescue Grey.

As the story draws to an end, we are left with the beginnings of a war being declared between some of the supernatural and The Council. This means the story is ripe and ready for the next instalment.

This is a fantasy series that is a nice easy read that you can sit and be submerged in without it being overly complicated. The writing continues to flow nicely with all the events paced at the right moment within the story. I was unsure with book one if I’d continue with this series but after reading book two, I think I just might like to see what happens next.
